LRTC Wild Horse Mentors'
WILD HORSE WORKSHOP 2001
Part Fourteen

Burros!

We have increased our activities with respect to burro training.

Burros are unique individuals and understanding how they think and respond to stimulus improves the adoption experience for both the burro and the adopter. Several clinicians got involved with burros this year and the longears were delightful.

We also had our own two-legged burro. Joyce "Burro" North ran the Wild Horse Cafe along with Randle "The Android" Thomsen. The cafe provided continuous food and drink so that participants didn't have to leave the event and drive into town in search of nourishment.

The media was also interested in the event. Some filming was done for a short feature about wild horses and the importance of adopter support programs, and the local news departments loved the horses, especially those who could play card games.
