Wild Horse Workshop 2002

Meet the Clinicians and Staff

Here is our "Cast of Characters"
that will bring WHW'02 to life.
(Presented in alphabetical order.)
CLINICIANS

Frank Bell

Frank is an accomplished horse gentler and trainer. His style is well suited to anxious and difficult horses and his approaches can be mastered by any serious horse handler.

Frank's style is catching on and is showing up in many other training programs.

Frank will also be hosting a weekend clinic in Columbia, MO the weekend following the workshop (Sept. 28-29.) Please call 417.439.4357 for details.

Robert Denlinger

Robert is an amazing horse handler, utilizing imaginative and low key approaches in dealing with ungentled and troubled horses. He employs a great deal of participant involvement and his "human round pen" is perhaps the most popular activity at the workshop.

Cher Eastep

When Cher isn't busy as Workshop Director she actually does a bit of horse training. Teaching behaviors using "clicker training" is one of her specialties, including such useful items as lifting feet and laying down on cue.

Chris Erlon

Chris is a "home grown" product, attending several workshops, working with BLM promoting adoptions and doing round pen demos for BLM at satellite adoptions.

Chris sets a fine example as to the kind of mentor we strive to develop.

Willis Lamm

Willis considers himself a student of horse behavior and enjoys working with difficult horses, especially those whom others have given up on. His greatest enjoyment is the development of the "Dances with Horses" concept using music to help guide cadence and carriage. His mainstay with wild horses is his "Quiet Hour" approach.

Jim Rea

Jim was with us in Golden, CO, in 2000. He's a "natural horsemanship" practicioner in Colorado and has worked with a number of mustangs.

We're glad to have him back in Lawrence to round out our clinical team.

John Sharp

John is 88 years old this year and still gentling horses, although he doesn't do quite as many as he used to. He is the workshop's "Clinician Emeritus" and much of what we do is based on John's teachings. John has an uncanny sense of what it takes to get a horse to respond with minimum struggle and stress.

Hue Simpson

Hue has studied TTEAM and related approaches and brings them together in her own style of developing body awareness, coordination and surefootedness in young, inexperienced and injured horses. Her emphasis is in getting the horse to focus and sense how he should use himself.

Janet Tipton

Janet has been Workshop Co-Director since 1999. She also headed up the Salt Lake crew for the Olympic Wild Horse and Burro Project that involved gentling nine horses and three burros for the Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games.

We're glad to see Janet spend more time in the pens.

Donna West

Donna is an amazingly versatile trainer who does it all from starting the wild ones to training police horses.

Donna was with us last year in Corvallis, OR, and we're certainly glad to have her talent with us in Lawrence.
