LRTC Wild Horse Mentors'
WILD HORSE WORKSHOP 2001
Part Eleven

Steve Rother

Steve is a very talented trainer that really understands horses. He can step right in and go toe to toe with the toughest horse and get excellent results. Steve can cover the basics all the way through the most advanced techniques.

At the workshop Steve demonstrated number of "specialty" approaches as well as horse handling basics.

Steve making a point
Working with a flag
One of Steve's assistants
How to teach a horse to lay down
While he rests on him
Steve just didn't demonstrate how to trailer load a wild horse, he loaded two at one time. One in, one out, two in, one out, one back in... you name it and the horses would do it.

No more excuses about why a horse won't load!

"Preparing" the horses to load
Waiting for a hand cue to come out
Loaded up and going home
Steve, Kathy Soderstrom
and her adoptee
Finishing touches on a tough mare

Adopted Horse Uses
Adopted wild horses are finding their way into virtually every equestrian discipline. Many are also finding "jobs" as ranch horses, on pack strings, in law enforcement as police horses and they are used by the military.
